or loose?
In my opinion, this is not a win for IT technicians.
I am not writing about the many problems Windows has, just one. Updates...
There is no other operating system that I know of that puts itself above the user experience.
The following situation. I need a computer quickly, in this case a NUC, but never mind. The computer was freshly installed two weeks ago and has been sitting on a desk ever since. I should point out that it was installed with all the latest drivers and updates.
So I grep it and turn it on and it starts saying. I need to restart for updates. Since I want to make sure the damn thing works, sure, let's reboot.
Updates are taking place, please don't turn off the computer 3% - reboot - same message 9% - reboot. The whole process repeats itself about 4 times before I can finally log in.
Quickly create a new local user with no privileges and log in.
HI... Your computer is being prepared.
With any other operating system, I can take a computer that has been off for a year, turn it on and use it. There will be a message about available updates, but I can choose when to do it without fear of the system rebooting in a situation where I need it.
I needed this computer urgently and the whole process took me 20 minutes instead of zero.
